"Paris in the fall..."
The first time I paid real attention to voices in video games was Broken Sword (1996), hearing George's opening soliloquy.
This wasn't a character. This was a real person, telling me a real story. It instantly drew me into their world in a way no other medium has.
That's what I aim to be for others every time I step into the booth.
What I love about voicing in video games is the sheer bredth. My character may only have a couple of lines, or may travel with the player for the entire journey. I can be a grizzled mentor, a charming rogue, a nervous critter or a gnashing demon. Delivering a heartfelt monologue one moment, and the next, screaming battle cries at the top of my lungs. Game sessions are some of the most demanding, but also most fulfilling.
I also love the collaborative aspect. Working with directors, writers, sound designers, and engineers who have invested months and years of their lives into their projects. Finally being able to breathe life into their characters is such a wonderful feeling.

Who have you worked with?
Since 2020, I've had the privilege of working with many talented game developers, directors, writers, designers, engineer and mocap technicians. The variety of producers is part of what makes this part of the job so interesting!
My gaming clients include GameScience, Ludeon Studios, Lillith Games, Awaken Realms, Atmos Games, Team FOLON, Dreamlit Inc, Foulball Hangover, Stubby Games, Studio Anate, FIVE-BN Games, Big Fish Games...
What info do you need in a character brief?
At the very least, their basic info - name, age, gender, species, accent/dialect? (if relevant) A brief explanation about the character and how they relate to the story you're telling.
Images and character references are wonderful, too!
If you don't have a particular idea in mind, no worries! I'm always happy to provide some suggestions.
Either way, drop me an email and we can discuss!
A few more suggestions (not compulsory!) :
Personality - core traits, speech style, emotions
Context - role in the story, status, relationship to player/others, main environment
Voice - pitch, tone, texture, any sfx, speed
What makes for a good audition script?
My favourite approach is 3 different lines - 1 or 2 sentences each.
Each line should show the character in a different situation or emotion they'll experience in the game. e.g. cautiously warning a stranger, joking with a friend, shouting at an enemy. They don't have to be actual lines from the game if your script is still being finalised.
From this, I'll typically provide more than 1 take per line, to give you options.
Send me your script and see what we can come up with!
What are your video game rates?
Every project's different.
To supply you with a fair quote, I'll consider the amount of work required, the scale of your game, and whether you require a live directed session. There can be other factors too, but this is a good start!
If you are an indie developer, I'll refer to the Indie Rate Guide.
Contact me for a zero-pressure quote.
How long do character lines take to record?
For gaming scripts under 300 words, my standard turnaround is under 3 hours.
But to be safe, contact me and I'll give you a more precise timeline based on my workload.
Do you offer live directed sessions?
Yes, I do! It's often quicker to jump on a call and give live feedback as I record. This can be particularly useful if you have a looming deadline, or very specific requirements for certain lines.
I sell video game live sessions in 1 hour slots, and can connect via Source-Connect, SessionLink, Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, etc
What's your revision policy on character lines?
I always aim to nail my clients' scripts first time and give a couple of alternative takes, just in case.
However, if you feel the script, tone, or pacing isn't quite right, all my quotes include 2 rounds of free revisions. Subsequent revisions will be charged at my basic session fee.
It's super rare, but for peace of mind, any errors on my behalf will be corrected will be corrected free of charge and not considered a revision.
We're bringing your character back for an update/expansion! Can you help?
Awesome! Just drop me an email and we can work it out! Even if it's just a couple of words I won't mind at all.
